For most people, I suspect the jury is out on whether spiritual healing works. It’s easy to be skeptical after all; effecting a cure with hands on healing instead of medication is almost beyond our comprehension.

I’ve met healers and they’ve told me some convincing stories. However, that’s not the same as seeing the evidence with your own eyes. But when I featured Niki Senior in Let’s Talk magazine many of my doubts were sent packing.

Niki was seven years old when Timmy, a scrawny stray black cat, came into her life. Her father had found him and took him home. “The vet said he had a cyst, a serious renal problem, and may not live longer than six months,” Niki recalls. “I sat with him in his basket, I put my hands on him and visualised healing energy cleansing his system and removing the cyst. I could feel the ‘flat’ spots. Timmy lived for another 10 years, finally dying of old age. The vet was amazed!” But Niki’s affinity with animals showed in other ways.

She says: “When Mum took me to school, cats would come out of gates. I’d have five or six cats following me – and the odd dog! Mum would be trying to shoo them away.” A friend asked Niki to help with her cat which was pulling out tufts of fur.

“I placed my hands on him and received messages,” says Niki. “I see these messages in pictures and put the images together. I saw he was from a house full of cats and was the neglected one; he lived upstairs in the spare room. I treated him three times, he stopped pulling out his fur and came out of himself.”
Niki still doesn’t know why she is able to heal or how it works.
“I can’t put my finger on where the energy comes from. I am just the channel. It’s about harnessing that energy and channelling it.
It’s not just dogs, cats and horses that Niki has healed.
“I’ve treated llamas. One had been used for breeding and had internal problems. They cleared up after four sessions. I treated a lizard that had a wound having been bitten by another lizard. I’ve done ducks, chickens, battery hens, geese and an alpaca; racing pigeons with injured wings, and I was even asked to treat a tarantula which couldn’t shed its skin, but I referred that one to somebody else. I have a fear of spiders!”

Case History
“Pan, a horse, was eight and had been rescued from a traveller encampment suffering a laceration above his right eye which failed to heal despite ointments and medication. Pan was very agitated. He circled me with great interest. I engaged with him and noticed he was almost tearful.

When I placed my hands upon his poll it was almost as if I were experiencing his previous life. Thoughts, images and feelings were whirring through my mind; images of neglect, being unloved, having suffered trauma and great pain.

Within the first 10 minutes of healing he proceeded to throw his head back and forth as though trying to rid himself of this negativity and disturbances from the past. He started to settle; after 15 minutes, he readily accepted the healing. After about 30 minutes his head became so heavy I struggled to support it, yet his body seemed to be totally lifted, I saw Pan the following week. I couldn’t believe it, the cut above his eye was almost clear. Pan almost bolted out of his stable to see me. Pan released parts of his past that enabled him to move forward with his new owner, knowing that his needs would be met.”

After this picture of Niki demonstrating her healing on Squeak, the cat, she said to me: “That cat is extremely hot around the throat area; I think she has a thyroid problem.” A few days later Niki emailed to say: “I mentioned to her owner that I thought Squeak could have a thyroid problem so she took her to the vet who diagnosed hyperthyroidism, just what I thought.  Now Squeak is on medication.”
