I hope you enjoy our cover story, Women with Unconventional Interests. Wonder Women, we call them. I’m sure there are dozens more out there – race car drivers, bus drivers, electricians, builders, Chief Executive Officers, etc. But, these women were in my sphere and I admire all of them for their independence and spunk.
If you find yourself worrying about the state of the city, don’t. I attended the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce 115th annual dinner and business awards, on February 5th at the Hyatt Hotel. It was attended by over 1,000 enthusiastic business people and there wasn’t a spare chair in sight. Photos of some of the attendees can be seen in our section “Around the Town with Tia.”
Katherine Kawaguchi, one of our Home Innovations columnists, “Aging in Place,” was one of the many vendors at the recent Home and Landscape Show at the Expo. She attracted many visitors to her booth and kept a record of those people who were interested in her services. Unfortunately, when the booth was packed and shipped, all of the contents were stolen…including her computer, her records, etc. So, if you stopped at Katherine’s booth and want more information, call her at 888 403 9668. A hex on the culprits.
We have received some very complimentary cards, letters and e-mails from our readers. It is nice to know that our magazine is generating this response. Sometimes when you sit at your desk and do your stuff you never know who is going to be touched by one of our columnists or by a feature we decide to cover. It is always gratifying to receive acknowledgments from our readers. Dr. Woo-Ming’s February article “Senior Sexuality,” was recommended by a website admirer to his audience, stating that it was well-written, educational and truthful. Several people wrote about memories of flying out of the Nut Tree airport, where Duncan Miller keeps his antique planes and cars. And, our poets received a very nice compliment, see the Poet’s Corner. We also received two complimentary letters on our two columnists who write for “Across the Pond.” And, our humorist, Alisa Singer, now has an ardent admirer. Many thanks for all of you for taking the time to write.
